How to protect your hair from pollution?
Updated: Dec 31, 2019
Many of us don’t realise this but pollution and UV rays affect your hair as much as they affect your skin! And with the constant use of chemicals in the various hair products, the hair gets more and more damaged. Well, you have nothing to worry about cause what’s done can be undone! With a little but of patience, consistency, and some care, you can make your hair healthy again.

Prevention and protection
So, how can you shield your hair from the pollution?
Don't let your hair down literally! Here are a few things you should follow religiously to avoid further damage:
Always keep your hair covered or tie it back with a hair band. For extremely porous or highly colour treated hair, this can be a game changer, especially if the area is windy!
Brush your hair with extreme care. If you have curly hair, keep the brushing to a minimum, i.e. brush only when your hair is wet, and use a wide toothed comb.
Don’t use heat to style your hair frequently.
Don’t wash your hair every day. If you have to, use a sulfate free shampoo and make sure to re-hydrate your hair using a conditioner.
Prefer shampoos that are really hydrating or are specific for damaged hair.
Deep condition once a while preferably once a week or indulge in a good hair spa once a month. But, the amount of conditioning needed depends on your hair type. If you have straight hair, you require less conditioning and if you have curly hair, you require more.
Oil your hair regularly! This is a serious game changer and will definitely help you get rid of a lot of your hair problems. We suggest coconut oil, but you can choose whichever you want. The best method is to oil your hair a night before your wash so that the oil can work overnight.

Repair that intense damage
Home-made packs and solutions are the best way to fix that hair damage. Here are our top 3 picks:
1. Abracadabra avocado
This fruit that's most likely in your kitchen will fix that hair damage pretty easily. Mash a ripe avocado (pit removed) with one egg, then apply this to wet hair, leave it on for 20 minutes and then rinse it properly. Repeat once a week for damaged hair and once a month for healthy hair. This will help you restore the luster to your dry hair!
2. Olive Oil Magic
Bring back the moisture to your dry hair by warming up half a cup of olive oil (do not boil it), and then rubbing it to your hair. Cover your tresses with a plastic bag, wrap everything in a towel and let the remedy work its charm for 45 minutes. Later, shampoo and rinse it completely for gorgeous hair! If you have naturally dry hair, you can use this remedy twice a week. If you have naturally oily hair, you should limit the use of external oil and can do this once a week or twice a month during summers.
3. Apple Cider Vinegar's Charm
Put the life back into your limp or damaged hair with this terrific home remedy: Combine 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar with 2 tablespoons olive oil and 3 egg whites, then apply the mix to your dry hair. Keep your hair covered for about a half hour using plastic wrap or a shower cap, then shampoo and rinse. You can use this remedy about once a week. Do this for at least a month to see the difference.
