Prevention and protection

Before we talk about repairing the damage, let's talk about how to prevent it. Here are a few things you can follow:

  • Keep your skin super hydrated and we don't mean just water. Don't hesitate to fulfil your daily quota of hydration with the help of some fresh juices and smoothies.

  • Eats lots of fruits and vegetables that are rich in anti-oxidants,

  • Apply some sunscreen or follow a skincare regimen (a serum, or a daily moisturiser) in order to safeguard the skin from the UV induced damage. Make sure to choose the sunscreen and moisturiser that trap the smog particles and prevent harmful chemicals from penetrating deep in the skin.

Drinking juices and smoothies are a great way to stay hydrated!

Repair that damage easily

There's nothing a detox bath can't fix! Our best pick for a detox bath is the green tea detox bath due to its detoxification abilities! This bath will relieve your stress while having the body benefited both inside out. How to go about it:

  1. Fill your bathtub with hot water

  2. Put in 5-6 tea bags and let them seep in for 15-20 minutes.

  3. Take a bath for about 20 minutes and you'll feel absolutely rejuvenated!

  4. After the bath, take a shower (preferably in cool water), moisturise your skin using coconut oil or olive oil, and hydrate yourself to replenish the water lost through sweating.

Scrubbing once or twice a week helps your skin exfoliate and heals from the adverse effects of pollution. Here's how to prepare our favourite scrub:

  1. Take 2-3 tbsp of lemon juice

  2. 1 tbsp of olive oil

  3. 1 tbsp of honey

  4. 1/2 cup granulated sugar.

Blend them until you get a nice, thick consistency. Apply this on your skin in a circular motion, twice a week to get rid of acne, dead skills and layers of pollution. Keep it for 7-10 minutes, rinse it with cold water to enjoy exfoliated skin!

A very common step after the scrub is using steam. It's one of the easiest ways to get a hydrated and glowing skin in no time. You can do it by using either a steam machine or a boiled pot of water. You can also add some essential oils or green tea to the water. Also, remember that as the steam opens up your pores, make sure you don't overdo it. Once a week would do wonders.

Cleansing masks work amazingly too! Mix 1/4 of smashed papaya with 2 teaspoons of finely grounded oats and leave it on your face for 20-25 minutes to exfoliate your skin, remove dead skin, and add glow to your skin. Curd and honey, when mixed together, works as an effective cleanser too! Combine two teaspoons of curd with one teaspoon honey and leave it on your face for 20 minutes to get an even-toned moisturised skin.

If you are not going for the longer procedure i.e. using a cleaning mask, make sure you use a toner after you are done taking the steam. If not, you need to use a toner after your entire routine. Follow these remedies for a month or so and see the results yourself! These remedies will make your skin flawless as ever.

Happy healing! ❤
