A very visible sign of dehydration is the feeling of unquenchable thirst. If you feel thirsty even after drinking multiple glasses of water then you are most probably dehydrated. But before we go on to see the cure for dehydration, let's take a step back and understand the reason for it. In simple words, dehydration is the result of loss of water, fluids, or electrolytes which makes it difficult for the body to function normally. This condition is usually triggered due to exposure to extreme heat, extreme exhaustion, fever, excessive sweating, and frequent urination.
Although dehydration may seem trivial, it can have some hazardous impacts on your health. So, it is very important to treat this as soon as possible.
Here are few of our favourite home remedies to replenish the lost electrolytes:
1. Lemon Water
A glass of good old nimbu paani i.e. lemon water is one of the most hydrating drinks ever! Packed with vitamin C, lemon water is an effective yet simple solution to tackle dehydration. To make this refreshing drink simply squeeze a whole lemon into a glass. Add a spoonful of sugar, a pinch of salt, and water to get your dose of hydration. This remedy is extremely tasty and healthy and can be enjoyed everyday!
2. Coconut Water
Believe it or not but summer's most-loved and refreshing drink, coconut water can treat almost every summer ailment! With high potassium, low calories, and essential vitamins and minerals it's a better choice for hydration than plain water. To top it all, drinking fresh coconut water every morning will not only help you retain the electrolytes but also increase your metabolism rate and get you on the path to that summer body.
3. Seasonal fruits
Fruits are not only nutritious and tasty but also help treat dehydration! Eating seasonal fruits means that you are eating something that is fresh and that hasn't been processed and stored for long periods. To make this solution all you need is: 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 6 teaspoons of sugar/brown sugar, and 4 cups of water. Just mix these ingredients and drink it at regular intervals to feel better.
